The Mojave Desert Chapter meets up with the Southern Utah Chapter in Mesquite after a ride through Lake Mead. Was great meeting so many new and nearby Spyder Ryders. I don’t think many of them realized just how many farkles and upgrades were available for the Spyder until they saw our rides. I have a feeling their trip to meet us will end up being expensive for several of them 🙂
This video is from last months ride to Death Valley with around 20 bikes in attendance.
The Rock the Troops poker run put on by the American Legion will be our monthly ride this weekend (April 6). Meet at 8:00 am at ProShop to discuss future rides and arrive at the start location as a group. Entry fee is $25.
This is just a reminder that we will be having our monthly ride on March 2nd. This month we will be meeting at 9 am at ProShop and riding to Death Valley, where we will meet up with some members of the Inland Empire Chapter in Shoshone around 10:30 for a join ride through Death Valley, a stop at Zabriski Point and lunch in Stovepipe Wells before returning back home by way of Beatty. If you are able to RSVP please do, so I can give the restaurant a heads up. We need to leave very close to 9:00 to make our 10:30 meet up, so please be on time. Right now weather for Saturday in Death Valley is looking at a very nice 76 degree high. Be prepared for an extended ride. Round trip right now is looking at about 300 miles. Please be sure to arrive on time with a full gas tank and to fill up completely at every gas stop. We are going into the desert, so it would also be a good idea to bring along a few water bottles, just in case.
This has been a busy month. Several of us made our way to Eureka, CA for Spyders in the Redwoods. We had a good showing with 5 of our local members representing our chapter, with over 150 riders and nearly 90 Spyders attending the event. Our local members easily clocked in over 2000 miles over the course of the week. You can see photos from the event here: http://www.spyderryderofamerica.com/?page_id=118
We are still waiting to hear back from the Torino Foundation regarding us doing fundraising for them. I will give them a call on Wednesday if we haven’t heard back from them by then.
Our next ride will be this Saturday, September 1st. As a reminder, our ride times has changed to 8 am to help dodge the heat. We still meet at ProShop in Henderson, 575 W. Lake Mead Pkwy, Henderson, NV. A destination/route will be chosen at the meet based on a vote of those present.
I’m going to try to put together some dinner gatherings mid week in the next coming weeks just to get together and eat.
As always if you have any suggestions, please let me know.
Earlier this month, we held our quarterly membership meeting. The docket was very small (just a couple items), but there were two important things that were decided on by a vote of those members present. First, and most importantly, THE TIME OF OUR MONTHLY MEETINGS HAVE CHANGED! The time is changing from 10:00 AM on the first Saturday of every month to 8:00 AM on the first Saturday of every month.
I know a lot of folks out there are unable to make weekend rides. If anyone out there would care to organize a ride during the week, please let us know. We’ll be happy to share it with the rest of the Ryders, and do what we can to have one of the board at least be present for the meeting.
The second motion that was approved was to approach the Torino Foundation (a local charity benefitting critically ill children – http://www.torinofoundation.org/) to do fundraising on their behalf. I contacted them earlier this week, and while they are really busy with their summer activities at the moment and will contact me after their summer camps wind down, but they seemed really excited about the prospects.
Spyders in the Redwoods is kicking off in a little over a week. This event in Eureka, CA is hosted by our sister chapter in San Fransisco. For more information, visit SpydersInTheRedwoods.com
